2016 Pitcher Catcher Showcase
Matt Duley is a 2018 RHP/SS with a 6-1 180 lb. frame from Joplin, MO who attends Joplin HS. Medium frame, medium build with present strength. On the mound shows a up temp, leg raise delivery. Tends to land closed with a cross body arm action on offering. Quick arm action through the baseball with good extension and full arm swing. Shows good command of a 4-seam fastball that was consistently thrown for strikes. Curveball was best pitch with 12/6 downer actions at 68 mph. Nice arm action on changeup that shows flashes of fading action to glove side. Right handed hitter with an open stance and strides to a slightly closed position. Simple leg lift trigger with a higher hand and elbow set at load. Pull side approach with a compact swing plane that generates natural lift through contact. Shows solid bat speed and extension at contact with present strength to drive the gaps. Consistent hard contact in BP with solid strength. Power potential should continue to develop with maturity. Listed as a primary right handed pitcher but impressed as a hitter at the 2016 Pitcher Catcher Showcase. Nice two way prospect.
