Jake Benio is a 2018 1B/OF with a 6-3 230 lb. frame from Marietta, GA who attends Walton HS. Large, athletic frame with broad shoulders and solid present strength proportioned throughout frame. Ran a 7.38 60-yard dash. Primary first baseman, short steps moving to the ball with developing footwork, fields the ball out front, full arm action through the back, pivots well to second base and shows accuracy as well as arm strength out of the hand, extra steps at release. Similar full arm action from the outfield, works over front side, occasionally gets under the ball at release. Righthanded hitter, begins with and upright and slightly open stance in the box, shifts well with lower half and stays on line towards the pitch. Uses hands well in swing, natural leverage to the swing path and shows comfort working the pull side. Opens front side early at times, shows nice jump off the barrel when on time.
