2015 Atlantic Coast Top Prospect Showcase
Jalen Jenkins is a 2016 OF/LHP with a 6-0 165 lb. frame from Waxhaw, NC who attends Cuthbertson. Medium-large frame with slender, highly athletic present build throughout and good projection remaining. Ran very well, posting a 6.71 seconds 60 yard dash. Hits from relaxed and balanced stance, loads hands deep and drops them into load, long stride forward, doesn't shift weight into contact, short the ball swing path, line drive plane, mades consistent contact to all fields. Showed good first step in the OF, moves to the ball well with easy athleticism, works through the ball and fields cleanly with good overall actions, solid arm strength topping at 75 MPH. Pitched as well, showing medium-length arm action up to near overtop slot, some drop and drive in mechanics, uses lower half well, showed FB with good natural heaviness and occasional cutting action. CB showed good depth, also flashed slider with short, tight tilt. Threw all 3 pitches for strikes. Good student.
