Leighton Keller is a 2019 SS/2B with a 5-8 145 lb. frame from Louisville, KY who attends St Xavier. Smaller frame with a lean, athletic build. Projects for additional size with strength. Ran a 7.00 sixty yard dash. Primary shortstop with smooth, fundamental footwork while surrounding the baseball. Clean, fluid glove actions while funneling the baseball out front. Shows solid range to both sides and creates good momentum toward first base while working through the baseball. Gets rid of baseball quickly with a quick release topping at 75 mph. Throws produce good carry across the infield with developing accuracy. Flashed athletic actions while working through slow roller as well. Right handed hitter with an upright, slightly open stance and leg lift trigger. Lower half shifts into contact well with linear actions. Quick, compact hand path to contact that creates a line drive plane through extension. Has a mid-field approach while swinging with intent to drive the baseball into the outfield gaps. Flashed the barrel control to create hard contact to all fields when staying balanced throughout swing. Tools will continue to improve with continued physical maturity. Good student as well.
