Nate Shear is a 2018 LHP/OF with a 5-10 145 lb. frame from Woodstock, GA who attends Woodstock HS. Slender, athletic frame on medium build; projects well. Ran 60 yard dash in 7.47 seconds. Primary left-handed pitcher; throws from high three quarters arm slot with long arm stroke through the back, extends well through release, smoothness to delivery as well. Fastball worked 74-77 MPH with slight cutting action to glove side. Showed curveball with good depth and spin; mostly on 2/7 shape with good repeatable shape. Did a good job filling up the zone. Sets up to hit from upright, even-based stance with leg lift trigger, drops hands into load, smooth swing with good repeatability on line drive plane, good approach to the middle of the field, stays balanced. Worked out in the outfield, moves in well and fields close to body, transfers cleanly and shows quick arm and subsequent release, displayed solid arm strength to target with arm strength clocked up to 77 MPH. Very good student.
