Jake Verniel is a 2016 LHP/OF with a 5-10 170 lb. frame from Blacksburg, VA who attends Blacksburg HS. Medium build, some present strength. Stays over the rubber well, lands open with a very early front side throwing, high 3/4's arm slot, good tempo to his delivery. Mid-70's fastball, topped out at 76 mph, some running action at times. Big slow curveball with some 1/7 depth. Throws both pitches for strikes and has some feel for pitching and keeping hitters off balance. Left handed hitter, tends to pull front side hitting as well, short swing with mid field to opposite field line drive contact. Very good student.
