Luis Renteria is a 2016 RHP/1B with a 6-3 190 lb. frame from Corona, CA who attends Eleanor Roosevelt HS. Large, athletic frame with broad shoulders and a long limbs, present strength throughout frame. Ran a 7.74 60-yard dash. Primary right-handed pitcher, short and compact arm action in the back with a high three-quarter release, hides the ball well through back. Full hand path with rhythm throughout, leg lift up past belt, slight pause at top of delivery. Gets on top and generates downhill plane on fastball, topped 76 mph with occasional cutting life. Throws curveball for strikes, shows 12-6 shape with depth, slows arm action at times. Lives low in the zone and fills it up, stays off barrels and mixes often. Short arm action across from first bavse, fields the ball out front, hands play at ball. Right-handed hitter, starts with a high hand set and weight on backside. Upper body swing, starts open in lower half and gets closed at contact, balanced throughout with line drive contact and short lift out front with a high finish. Good student.
