Brian Craven is a 2018 SS/RHP, 2B, 3B with a 5-11 180 lb. frame from Hingham, MA who attends St Sebastians School. Medium build and frame, athleticism, and room to continue to fill out physically and add strength. Posted an impressive 6.89 time in the 60 yard dash. Primary shortstop, moves very well laterally, clean transfer skills, threw well on the move, and a strong arm up to 84 mph. At the plate, switch hitter who impressed from both sides. Started with a crouched stance, medium hand set, and a deeper hand load. Hands were very quick from both sides, getting throguh the zone with a positive launch angle with consistent line drive contact. Generated carry with torque through upper half and got to all fields. Also pitched, short stride to the plate, closed landing, very short, compact arm action, lands balanced and threw from a three quarter arm slot. Fastball worked 81-84/85 mph with arm side life and riding life up and out of the zone. Replicated arm speed from the same slot for slider at 74 mph with short break and 10/4 shape. Worked best inside on right handed hitters and with fastball out of the zone. Very good student. Named to Top Prospect List.
