2015 Atlantic Coast Underclass Showcase
Garrett McCraw is a 2019 C/IF, OF, UT, RHP with a 5-9 145 lb. frame from Holly Springs, NC who attends Fuquay-Varina. Medium frame with lean, athletic present build and good room to fill out frame. Hits with big stride and good shift into contact, narrow base to start, bars hands some in load, shows good bat speed with quality hands, some jump off the barrel from line drive plane, projectable power. Worked out defensively all over the field. Showed good fielding actions in the IF with quick, smooth release and IF velocity up to 73. Good footwork to ball in the IF, stops momentum to field but shows off good arm strength up to 80 MPH with accuracy. Also caught, stands up to throw down without any explosion in lower half, gains ground well from behind plate, shows quality arm strength up to 72 with pop time at 2.10 seconds. Pitched as well, showed short arm action with hook in back of circle, uses lower half well, 3/4 arm slot, FB worked 77-79 and touched 80. Showed CB with with good overall feel, quality depth and spin. Flashed CH with some feel, good arm speed and some fade. Named to 2015 Atlantic Coast Underclass Showcase Top Prospect List.
