Christian Coipel is a 2016 OF/1B, LHP with a 6-3 180 lb. frame from Miami, FL who attends Florida Christian. Large, lean, athletic frame with excellent present strength and high-end projection. Hits from slightly open stance, has fluidity and looseness in swing, shows good carry off the bat with present gap power and projection for HR power. Inside-out approach with quick hands. Very good performance in the OF, gets behind the ball well with excellent footwork and athleticism, very strong arm with good carry and accuracy to target. Picked well and looked comfortable at 1B as well. Pitches from high 3/4 slot with good downhill plane, could utilize lower half better in delivery, FB worked 79-82 and touched 83. Throwing strikes but working up in one. Showed sharp CB with 1/7 shape and excellent depth, missed bats consistently with the pitch. Flashed a CH with solid fading action. Balanced throughout delivery. High end athletic projection. Named to 2015 Sunshine East Showcase Top Prospect list. Very good student.
