Haein Choi is a 2020 3B/1B with a 5-11 190 lb. frame from Chula Vista, CA who attends Eastlake HS. Medium frame with beginnings of strength. Frame projects to support additional size and strength. Worked out defensively from the infield and first base showing smooth paced, deliberate footwork while ranging for and surrounding the baseball. Funnels baseball out front and worked through exchange well. Released from a compact three-quarters arm slot generating accurate carry across the infield, topped at 77 miles per hour. Right handed hitter with an upright, slightly open stance and simple leg lift trigger. Created some linear shift into contact with lower half. Simple, direct hand path to contact with a clean, line drive barrel plane. Showed good feel for the barrel with present bat speed that generated good jump to the gaps when on time and squared. Tools will continue to develop with maturity and repetition.
