David Evans is a 2015 C/RHP with a 6-2 215 lb. frame from Scottsdale, AZ who attends Desert Mountain HS. Large, athletic build with broad shoulders and a mature, physical build with present strength throughout. Ran a 7.77 60-yard dash. Primary catcher, starts with a low set up behind the plate, receives out front well, quick arm and big arm strength produce top pop time of 1.88. Quick release with accuracy down to second base. Also pitched, throws from a three-quarter arm slot with a short arm action. Slight hip turn at top of delivery, high leg raise, front side opens early at times. Generates downhill plane on fastball that topped out at 85 mph with more coming and showed a hard, late breaking 11-5 curveball at 75 mph. Right-handed hitter, starts with a still stance and a calm, high hand set at the plate. Long swing but quick hands generate nice bat speed with strength and lift to both gaps. Aggressive approach at the plate, nice jump off the barrel. Good student. Named to West Uncommitted Top Prospect List.
