2015 Florida Top Prospect Showcase
Michael Richey is a 2016 C/RHP, 3B with a 5-9 180 lb. frame from Cape Coral, FL who attends Bishop Verot HS. Compact frame, medium, lean athletic build. Solid overall athlete, ran a 7.26 60-yard dash. Primary catcher, solid crouch and setup with wide base. Solid transfer and exchange, very good footwork with compact arm-action, good arm strength. Popped as low as 1.81 seconds in defensive drills. Right handed hitter, deeper hand load with longer path to ball. Rotational swing, shows solid feel for the barrel, maintains good timing and balance throughout swing. Good bat speed, strength shows up with solid carry to the gaps, with notable carry to the pullside. Also pitches, high leg lift delivery, solid use of lower half with good direction and drive. Good extension over frontside, fastball up to 81 mph with some armside run. Shows solid feel for both his changeup and curveball. Good potential on both sides of the ball. Good student. Named to the Showcase Top Prospect List.
