Dominic Smith is a 2013 1B/OF, LHP with a 6-1 200 lb. frame from Los Angeles, CA who attends Serra HS. Solid athletic build, good present strength. Special left handed hitting tools, hitter's hands, very quick bat, can hit all types of pitching, hits the ball hard to all parts of the feel, very advanced ability to square the ball up, sees the ball, future batting champion type tools and has the power to go with it. Graceful defensive first baseman, very soft hands, pro level footwork, 6.89 runner with ability to play corner outfield but has more value at first base. Also pitched, low 90's fastball, some effort but commands the ball well, lots of late 2-seam fastball life, big breaking slow curveball, toyed with hitters. Has fun playing and has an unteachable feel for the game. Good student, verbal commitment to Southern California.

Exceptional hitting skills, sees the ball very well, keeps hands inside the ball, can foul off pitches outside at will, still learning to turn on the ball, shows pro level bat speed now with more to come, easy effortless swing. Outstanding defensive first baseman, very soft hands, polished footwork and balanced, easy actions, one of the few HS age first baseman who can impact the game defensively. Outfield arm strength plays well, outfield quickness and speed is short. Has been up to 92 mph on the mound. Confident player with a special hitting tool.

Exaggerated open stance hitting, never closes, full aggressive swing with bat speed, strong quick hands. Good outfield arm, very soft hands at first base, can impact the game defensively there. Also pitched, effort delivery with long, loose arm, high 3/4's to over the top release, throws downhill. Fastball topped out at 89 mph, big curveball with good downer shape, thrower now. Has high level tools. Big time follow.
