Jacob Barfield is a 2014 3B/RHP/1B with a 6-1 200 lb. frame from Pearland, TX who attends Pearland HS. Big frame, very strong for age. Quick release defensively, good balance, throws carry, soft hands. Right handed hitter, simple no load approach, low hands, stays quiet, stays short and quick to the ball, has good present bat speed for his age with more to come, looks to pull, ball comes off the barrel hard, will benefit from more hitting rhythm/lower half use. Also pitched, fastball up to 82 mph, clean arm action, curveball showed solid spin, has some pitching ability and projection. Nephew of former ML outfielder Jesse Barfield. Nice young player, follow closely.
