Wynton Bernard is a 2008 OF/2B with a 6'1'', 185 lb. frame from Poway, CA, who attends Rancho Bernardo HS. Bernard has a very good frame with athleticism. He runs well in the sixty (6.79), on the bases, and in the field. Defensively he moves very well in the outfield showing good reactions and instincts. He gets good reads off the bat and he covers a great deal of ground. Bernard shows solid arm strength (76 mph) with online carry to the bag. At the plate he is a right handed hitter who hits from a slightly open stance with an average base. He is an aggressive hitter with balls in the strike zone. He shows very good bat speed with a short and compact swing. He stays balanced through his swing, and he gets great leverage at the point of contact showing projectable power. Bernard has the ability to hit to all fields, and he should hit with power and average at the next level. He is an athletic player with upside.
