If there’s a distinct strength of the draft class, it just might be the left-handed pitching on the college side. There are power arms like Sean Manaea, and then there are southpaws that rely more on pitchability like Gonzaga’s Marco Gonzales. Another left-hander that fits into that advanced pitchability category is North Carolina’s Kent Emanuel. While his raw stuff is nothing to sneeze at, what’s going to send him to the next level and allow him to succeed there is his ability to command the zone and mix his secondary pitches effectively. And, his college resume speaks to the fact that he’s known how to do that since the day he arrived on campus.
