This was one of the most enjoyable showcases I’ve ever been to, Perfect Game or otherwise. The talent level was exceptionally high and what really stood out was that the players were ready to compete and really wanted it. A couple of things that stood out in particular.
• The power display in batting practice Saturday morning was right on par with the famous East Coast Pro batting practice of 2001. Given the context of the size of the Terry Park Stadium Field and the sheer number of players who crushed the ball, it might have been even better than that Prince Fielder led display in Wilmington.
• The Puerto Rican class, which has already been dubbed the best of the draft era dating back to 1989, got even better, and that goes well beyond Carlos Correa.
