Reds Midwest Scout Team = Kernels Foundation Champions

The Reds Midwest Scout Team defeated St. Louis Pirates DePew in the Championship game of the 2009 Kernels Foundation Championship.  Led by a strong pitching performance by 2010 RHP Conor Fisk, the Reds dominated the red-hot bats of the Pirates. Fisk finished the complete game shutout, giving up only 4 hits and 3 walks while striking out 4 batters. The Reds bats continued to strive, led by 2010 firstbaseman Jeff Zimmerman. Jeff was 6-12 with 8 runs scored, 4 RBIs, two doubles and a triple. Zimmerman took home the Most Valuable Player award for the tournament.

The Pirates were led all weekend by P/1B Chad Green, who very well could have also been named Most Valuable Player of the tournament, but his pitching performance on Sunday night vs Top Tier earned him the Most Valuable Pitcher award. Green pitched a complete game 1-hitter, advancing the Pirates to the semifinals this morning. At the plate, Green was 10-15 with 2 double, 8 RBIs, and 5 runs scored.
