PG National High School Top 50: May 10

After another action-packed week across the country, the cream is rising to the top as far as state tournaments go, with several state champions being crowned, several others reaching the state finals and even more getting further and further into the state tournament.

A huge congratulations goes out to the state champions on our updated top 50. These schools include Canterbury (Fla.), Calvary Christian Academy (Fla.), Edmond Memorial (Okla.), Shawnee (Okla.) and Centennial (Nev.).

Several more schools in the rankings will be playing in their respective state championships in the coming days, so we expect several more state champs to dot our rankings in the coming weeks.

As far as this week's edition goes, the top spot is still occupied by Marjory Stoneman Douglas (Fla.) as they head into the state title game. Despite a no hitter from Charles King (pictured above), Coppell (Texas) dropped one spot in the rankings, replaced at No. 2 by Walton (Ga.). Archbishop McCarthy (Fla.) and Barbe (La.) remain at Nos. 4 and 5, respectively.

Once again this week, we have a half dozen newcomers to the ranks. They include Calvary Christian Academy (Fla.) at No. 27, Edmond Memorial (Okla.) at No. 34, Flower Mound (Texas) at No. 41, Brunswick School (Conn.) at No. 43, Centennial (Nev.) at No. 47 and Summerville (S.C.) at No. 49.

Furthermore, a huge individual accomplishment needs to be recognized this week. Josh Hall, a sophomore center fielder from the Randolph School in Alabama, shattered the Alabama High School Athletic Association (AHSAA) record for most stolen bases in a single season. The previous record, held for nearly 20 years, was 75. Hall blew past that mark with ease, finishing the season with 81 stolen bases, a truly remarkable accomplishment. A huge congratulations goes out to Josh from all of us here at Perfect Game.
