Week 5 was a great weekend of baseball with quite a few outstanding performances.  Velocities were up along with the temps which made for a very competitive weekend!

Van Scoyoc's shutout Hitters in 1-0 Pitchers Duel
Spencer Van Scoyoc (2016 - Jefferson HS) and Connor Van Scoyoc (2018 - Jefferson HS) combined on a 2 hit shutout defeating the Rawlings Hitters.  Spencer pitched 4 innings allowing 1 hit with 9 strikeouts and 1 walk.  The lone walk was the first hitter of the ballgame, and he settled down nicely locating his 86-88 MPH fastball topping at 89 MPH and throwing his hammer curveball for strikes at 73 MPH.  Connor was just as good allowing 1 hit in 3 innings striking out 4 and walking none.  He made a nice jump in velocity pitching steady at 88-90 MPH with heavy sink and some run on it.  He also flashed a few good change ups at 79-80 MPH as well.  Casey Kempner (2016 - Northbrook, IL) took the hard luck loss going 4 innings allowing 4 hits and 1 run with 5 strikeouts.  He showed some pitchability at 80-84 MPH topping out at 85 MPH.  Jarred Kelenic (2018 - Waukesha, WI) was very impressive in relief pitching at 87-90 MPH from the left side with a quick arm action.  He allowed 1 hit in 2 innings and struck out 5 while walking 2.  Connor Lindaman (2016 - Davenport Assumption HS) had the lone RBI of the game knocking in Tyler Roeder (2016 - Jefferson HS) in the first inning of the game.
