2013 Top Prospects

Andrew Carber  RHP - 2013 - Blue Bell, PA
Uncommitted

Very interesting story, 20 year old 6-9/225 athlete who is on the golf team at Clemson and is trying to get back into baseball again as a pitcher. He topped out at 90 mph with huge downhill angle and had some developing feel for pitching.

2016 Top Prospects

Xzavion Curry  RHP - 2016 - Atlanta, GA
Georgia Tech

Curry did everything on the field just as he does every time we see him at an event. Full of athleticism and big arm strength (94 mph from the outfield and 91 across the diamond), the Georgia Tech commit also bumped 90 mph on the mound with a hard and late breaking curveball.

Dean Looney  OF - 2016 - Matthews, NC
Howard College

Looney has the type of bat speed and hand quickness that you quickly take notice off. A lefthanded hitter committed to Howard College, Looney whips the barrel through the zone and hits the ball with a lot of force and strength to all fields while showing the ability to backspin the ball and create loft to his pull side.

Terrell Frazier  OF - 2016 - Atlanta, GA
Georgia State

Frazier looks like an underclassman with a slender 6-3/165 build but the left hander is a graceful and quick twitch athlete who already shows bat speed, although his best tools are on defense with his 6.5 speed and big range in centerfield.

Kieran Casey  RHP - 2016 - Jupiter, FL
Davidson/St. Petersburg College

Casey is one of the most improved pitchers in the country over the last six months. He was topping out at 85-86 mph this summer but is now 89-91 from a low 3/4's arm slot with a tight sweeping curveball.

Akil Baddoo  OF - 2016 - Conyers, GA
Kentucky

The University of Kentucky commit enjoyed a strong summer circuit season and continued to impress this weekend. An easy above average runner with a 6.69 60-yard time and a strong throwing arm, the lefthanded hitter Baddoo showed his strength off the barrel during his BP round and in live game at-bats.

Todd Lott  OF - 2016 - Jacksonville, FL
Louisiana-Lafayette

Lott, a Louisiana-Lafayette commit, put his full tool set on display and did so in a loud way. Listed at 6-foot-4, 215-pounds Lott ran a 7.11, threw an impressive 89 mph from the outfield and took a very easy yet powerful round of batting practice that resulted in several hard hit balls with big jump off the barrel.

Livingston Morris  OF - 2016 - Dacula, GA
GGC

Morris is a very physical and very athletic 6-foot-4, 220-pound outfielder who ran a 7.00 60-yard dash and showed big arm strength from the outfield, up to 91 mph. His righthanded swing and power are just as impressive with quick hands, easy bat speed, and jump off the barrel.

Jaquez Williams  1B - 2016 - Newnan, GA
Georgia State

Williams, a Georgia State commit, is another big physical body (6-foot-3, 210-pound) who has the talent to match with a solid run tool and good arm strength. With a very short and compact stroke Williams is able to produce big jump off the barrel with big and rather effortless bat speed through the zone.

Mitchell Golden  SS - 2016 - Marietta, GA
Georgia Southern

Golden really stands out for his bat speed for both sides of the plate and profiles as an offensive second baseman at the next level. He's a fast twitch athlete who plays fast with intensity.

Griffin Rivers  OF - 2016 - Birmingham, AL
South Alabama/Pensacola State

Rivers is a multi-tooled athlete who looked good all over the field. He has a 90+ arm from both the infield and outfield and topped out at 88 mph on the mound with very good feel for pitching. He's also a 6.7 runner and a switch-hitter with bat speed from both sides.

Sylvester Toe, Jr.  RHP - 2016 - Douglasville, GA
University of Alabama at Birmingham

Toe, Jr. is a big and strong 6-foot-3, 205-pound righthander who not only looks the part but has the stuff on the mound too. His arm action is loose and easy arm action that produced a fastball up to 90 mph with sink and a slider in the mid-70s that proved to be a go-to offering.

Jalen Evans  RHP - 2016 - Warren, MI
Texas Wesleyan University/Western Oklahoma State College

Uncommitted, Evans has a strong and durable frame on the mound and a fast right arm to match. He comfortably sat in the upper-80s throughout his time on the mound and showed the ability to locate to either side of the plate with occasional late life and downhill plane.

Kip Brandenburg  SS - 2016 - Greensboro, NC
UNC-Wilmington/Spartanburg Methodist College

Brandenburg stands out for his athletic 6-5/200 build and his overall athletic agility. He showed big right handed bat speed and lots of offensive potential. He projects as a third baseman at the next level.

Mason Studstill  RHP - 2016 - Titusville, FL
Florida Gulf Coast

Studstill absolutely stood out with his right handed power, hitting one ball out in batting practice to the right of the scoreboard, a territory where hitters rarely go. He didn't pitch at the event but has been up to 91 mph on the mound as well.

Luis Veloz  OF - 2016 - Woodland Park, NJ
Uncommitted

Veloz has a very projectable 6-4/180 build with lots of looseness and athleticism. He really stood out in the games at the plate with big bat speed and very hard line drive contact.

Sam Huff  C - 2016 - Phoenix, AZ
Grand Canyon

Huff is on the big side for a catcher at 6-4/215 but he's very athletic behind the plate and has a quick release and top of the line arm strength. He gets a bit too inside at times at the plate but flashes plus bat speed and lots of power potential.

Brandon Chinea  SS - 2016 - Palmetto Bay, FL
Tennessee

Chinea is another player who just does everything well on the field, from run a 6.6 to showing a strong arm at multiple positions to having a polished and strong swing at the plate. He's going to be a solid player for many years into the future.

Jacob Matheny  C - 2016 - Weldon Spring, MO
Missouri/San Jacinto CC

Matheny has a long limbed 6-2/190 build and creates lots of leverage and bat speed and probably has the highest offensive ceiling in the Matheny family. The Indiana signee's best tool on defense is his strong arm.

Jackson Nichols  C - 2016 - Nacogdoches, TX
McLennan CC

Nichols stood out on both sides of the ball. He's a quick and agile catcher with a big arm and registered a 1.82 pop time. He's also short and quick with his right handed swing and showed nice gap power.

James Kirklin III  OF - 2016 - Kennesaw, GA
Jacksonville State/Chattahoochee Valley CC

Kirklin's 6.5 speed stands out both defensively and on the bases. He's a right handed hitter with good strength in his swing and makes hard line drive contact.

Kobe Lopez  SS - 2016 - Orlando, FL
Florida International

Lopez may only be listed at 5-foot-7, 134-pounds but he plays as hard as any other player and makes his all around skill set evident in a game setting. His glove plays very well up the middle with quick twitch to his frame and a feel for the barrel that consistently plays against living pitching with several squared up balls.

Nelson Alvarez  RHP - 2016 - Miami, FL
South Florida/Miami-Dade College

Alvarez, who is listed as uncommitted per his profile page, showed excellent two-way potential throughout the weekend. Listed at a very believable 6-foot-6, 230-pounds Alvarez showed big thump in his righthanded swing and ran his fastball up to 90 mph with a smooth arm action and a full four-pitch mix.

Travis Hall  3B - 2016 - Tallahassee, FL
Chipola College

Hall is one of the most athletic players one will ever see, with a sculpted 6-5/220 build. He has very good right handed bat speed and big offensive potential if he's able to harness his strength.

Charlie Greenich  RHP - 2016 - Covington, GA
Gulf Coast CC

Greenich is a very projectable young right hander with three solid pitches, including an 85-88 mph fastball that has outstanding life on it from a high 3/4's release point. He really cruised through his outing by pounding the zone and attacking hitters.

2017 Top Prospects

Matthew Golda  SS - 2017 - Bradenton, FL
Kentucky/Palm Beach State

Golda continued to do his thing defensively just as he did at the Main Event Showcase just a handful of days before. Full of athleticism and present strength Golda is the highest level of defender and handle the barrel very well both in batting practice and against live pitching.

Conner Nurse  RHP - 2017 - Davenport, FL
Seminole State College of Florida

A Liberty commit, Nurse is a fast armed 6-5 athlete who topped out at 90 mph after hitting 92 a couple of months ago in Jupiter. His 74 mph curveball is tight with some depth and he does a good job of throwing both pitches for strikes.

Free Agents Top Prospects

Juan Jose Contreras  RHP - Free Agents - , SD DOM

Contreras was a name that had all the scouts buzzing courtesy of his fast right arm and big velocity that sat in the 90-93 mph range while bumping 94s throughout. His heater showed heavy life to the bottom of the zone and he also unleashed a few hard breaking balls in the low-80s that showed potential.

Victor Maria  SS - Free Agents - San Francisco De Macoris, DU DOM

Maria is a loose and projectable athlete at 6-3/165 with outstanding arm strength, including posting a 93 mph throw time during infield drills. He has a nice right handed swing with the beginnings of some bat speed and power potential.

Jesus Nunez  SS - Free Agents - Santo Domingo, NC DOM

Just 15 years old, Nunez has the type of hands defensively that you don't often see on such a young prospect. After a strong showing in the drills portion he showed the footwork and fluidity play in game as well, getting the ball out of his glove in a split second and showing above average arm strength and carry across the diamond (88 mph).

Aaron Bracho  SS - Free Agents - El Tigrito, AN VEN

Only 14 years old, Bracho's tool set stood out amongst a group of players who were a full three-plus years older. A sound runner (7.09) with an advanced glove and plus footwork to go along with his arm strength, Bracho also showed a feel for the barrel from both sides of the plate.

Gustavo Rodriguez  OF - Free Agents - Santo Domingo, NC DOM

Rodriguez impressed in all facets of the game and will have a lot of buzz around his name come this July 2nd. Very projectable standing 6-foot-2, Rodriguez threw 95 mph from the outfield, ran a 6.78 60-yard dash and showed a long and fluid swing with present strength and jump off the barrel.

Luis Cleto  OF - Free Agents - Santo Domingo, NC DOM

Cleto is a big and strong 15 year old, which should translate to real bat speed with some adjustments. His best tool right now is his lightning fast arm, which registered 94 mph from the outfield in drills. He'd be interested to see on the mound.

Mitchell Miliano Alvares  RHP - Free Agents - , SD DOM

Miliano Alvares has a long and lean frame that projects well and was able to produce a fastball that bumped 91 mph early during his time on the mound. He was able to generate downhill plane and flashed a breaking ball in the mid-70s from the same high release point.

Matthew Beattie  RHP - Free Agents - Glen Waverley, VIC AUS

The young Australian righthander impressed last week at the Main Event and did so again here at the World. With a loose arm action, Beattie topped out at 90 mph with late life while living down in the zone and flashed a slider in the mid-70s.

Starlyn Castillo  RHP - Free Agents - Pimental, SE DOM

We do not have a birth date for Cepeda but was told that the young Domincian was born in 2002 and is 13 years old. If that is accurate, it's pretty amazing, as he is already topping out at 87 mph with a hard spinning 74 mph curveball and some feel for pitching.

Starlin Paulino  SS - Free Agents - Santo Domingo, SD DOM

Paulino has a nice combination of tools offensively and defensively. He has second base actions but plays very sure and confident in the infield. He has very good right handed bat speed for his age.

Deury Carrasco  SS - Free Agents - , SD DOM

Carrasco is another young, interesting player from the Dominican Republic who had a strong showing with his hands and big arm strength. A projectable middle infielder, Carrasco showed twitch to his actions and both softness and quickness to his hands to complement his top of the charts (91 mph across) arm strength.
