North Florida 2, Kennesaw State 1

While the University of North Florida has already claimed the regular season Atlantic Sun title and set a school record with 41 (and counting) victories, the weekend series against visiting Kennesaw State is still of utmost importance. First, for the teams as a collective, both programs will look to stay sharp with the Atlantic Sun Conference Tournament looming set to begin in just under one week, on Wednesday, May 20, in Fort Myers, Fla.

Also, for the select few individual players who have already put themselves in solid position to be drafted this June, this weekend could prove to be pivotal with about a dozen cross-checkers and special assignment scouts/decision makers in the crowd for last night's contest.

Kennesaw State's Jordan Hillyer took to the mound last night and threw the ball well. Despite being drafted in the 20th round out of high school in 2012, Hillyer, now a junior, saw fit to attend college and has improved each and every year since setting foot on campus. He's been particularly solid for the Owls since shifting from a bullpen/swingman role to a full-time starter last year.
