Every year we find ourselves saying and thinking the same thing: It's hard to believe we're at the midpoint of the season. With seven weeks down and seven more to go, it's time to hand out some midseason hardware.

Jheremy Brown and Andrew Krause identified and chronicled the number of freshmen performing at a high level in a feature a couple of weeks ago. While many of those players and performances have since cooled, Seth Beer certainly has not. While the numbers as shared below were collected with the completion of games through Monday, Beer hit his 13th home run of the season on Tuesday night, and despite the fact that he would be a senior in high school right now had he not enrolled early at Clemson, he certainly has shown poise beyond his years in coming up with big, game-changing hits.

As a result, Beer not only is our Freshman of the Year at the midpoint, but also the Perfect Game Midseason Player of the Year.

Big moments are something Mississippi State's Dakota Hudson also seems to have a feel for. There are pitchers with more wins than Hudson this season, but few, if any, with more big wins. And you can't argue with the other numbers, with an ERA less than 1.00 thanks to a mid-90s fastball and an upper-80s to low-90s cutter that is pushing Hudson further and further up draft boards.

Both Chad Holbrook of South Carolina and Cal's David Esquer received consideration for the Perfect Game Midseason Coach of the Year. Holbrook received the call for guiding his squad to a 25-5 record. The Gamecocks are doing so with an interesting blend of talent, from freshmen, sophomores and juniors, to, most notably, Junior College transfers. They swept their first two SEC series before losing two of three against Vanderbilt, in Nashville, last weekend, and have two big series remaining on the SEC slate as they host both Florida and Texas A&M during the final month of the season.

The Midseason Team of the Year is a fairly simple exercise as it basically comes down to the best program in the nation. That would be the Florida Gators, who opened the season as the No. 1 team and haven't wavered seven weeks into the season. Sweeps of Missouri and Texas A&M book-end a series loss on the road against Kentucky. They took two of three from Miami in Coral Gables and have also beat UCF (twice), Florida State (twice) and Florida Atlantic as part of their midweek contests.
