2016 Top Prospects

Matthew Becker  RHP - 2016 - Waverly Hall, GA
LaGrange College/East Georgia College

Becker ran his fastball up to 87 mph, and the 6-foot-1, 190 pound righty also displayed some feel for his low-70s curveball and mid-70s changeup, throwing both offerings for strikes.

Xavier Cruz  C - 2016 - Acworth, GA
West Georgia/Georgia Highlands

Cruz has some solid hitting tools from both the left and right side with solid bat speed, a fluid swing path, and the ability to get extended and get the most out of his 5-foot-10, 176 pound frame. Additionally, he has a quick transfer behind the plate and recorded a 1.87 pop time.

Cal Kellner  OF - 2016 - Woodbury, MN
California Lutheran University

Kellner had an impressive workout. The 6-foot-5, 220 pound primary outfielder moves well for his size, posting a 6.75 60-yard dash. Kellner flashed power potential at the plate when he was on time with his leg lift trigger.

Canyon McWilliams  1B - 2016 - Shaker Heights, OH
Uncommitted

McWilliams had one of the more impressive rounds of batting practice at the event. The 6-foot-1, 200 pound primary first baseman has good strength in his frame and flashes quality pullside power with solid feel for using the barrel. He also has some arm strength, hitting 86 mph from the outfield in defensive drills.

Troy Saruna  OF - 2016 - West Bloomfield, MI
Wayne State University (MI)

Saruna has some twitchy athleticism in his compact 5-foot-10, 155 pound frame. The primary outfielder ran a 6.81 60-yard dash and has solid actions and arm strength from the outfield. At the plate he shows good hand quickness and a nice balanced shift to contact.


2017 Top Prospects

Max Pearton  RHP - 2017 - Gainesville, FL
Uncommitted

Pearton consistently worked in the 84-87 mph range with his fastball. The 6-foot-2, 210 pound righthanded pitcher also showed solid feel for his curveball with 12/6 break and quality depth and worked in a low-70s changeup.

Tristan Tinney  LHP - 2017 - Bridgeville, PA
Uncommitted

Tinney performed very well in game action on Sunday. The 5-foot-10, 181 pound lefthanded pitcher threw three perfect innings and was able to spot his 80 mph fastball extremely well. He also showed solid feel for his sharp low-70s breaking ball and and a low-70s changeup. Furthermore, he made two good plays in the gaps while patrolling center field and displayed solid feel for the barrel at the plate.

Garrett Hastings  OF - 2017 - Gainesville, FL
Kentucky

Hastings posted the best 60-yard dash time of the event, running it in 6.57 seconds. He was a menace on the basepaths swiping second and third base a number of times during game action. The 6-foot-2, 165 pound outfielder has a contact-oriented lefthanded swing and sprays the ball around the field.

Jet Le Parti  OF - 2017 - Brooklyn, NY
Pennsylvania/College of the Canyons

Lee had performed well at a number of Perfect Game events this summer, and this weekend was no different. Lee ran the 60-yard dash in 6.66 seconds, and his footspeed, athleticism, and projectable 6-foot-5, 180 pound frame is intriguing. He also posted the second best outfield velocity at 88 mph.


2018 Top Prospects

Henry Davis  C - 2018 - Bedford, NY
Louisville

Davis has an athletic 6-foot-2, 170 pound frame and the primary catcher has a quick transfer, good footwork and very good armspeed, allowing him to record an event-best 1.75 pop time in defensive drills. Similarly, he threw 91 mph from the outfield. Additionally, Davis flashes good bat speed and some feel for the barrel.

Scott Elgin  RHP - 2018 - Hoover, AL
Lipscomb

Elgin has a solid 6-foot-1, 200 pound frame and the sophomore has a quick arm. The righthanded pitcher ran his fastball up to 84 mph and showed an ability to locate the pitch down in the strike zone. He has very good feel for his curveball, which is his out pitch.

Zack Smith  C - 2018 - Carrollton, GA
Morehead State

Smith is a well-rounded player that projects well at a number of positions. The 6-foot, 180 pound primary catcher popped a 1.84 in defensive drills. At the plate the righthanded hitter keeps his head still on the contact point and shows solid control of the barrel. On the mound, Smith has solid downhill plane on his fastball, which touched 84 mph.
