2017 Top Prospects

Braiden Ward  OF - 2017 - Merced, CA
University of Washington

A Washington commit, Ward is a very high level quick twitch athlete who ran a 6.52 sixty and is even faster home to first. A left handed hitter, Ward also showed his bat speed with a game home run. He's going to be an interesting top of the order player down the road.

Blake Mann  OF - 2017 - Porter Ranch, CA
St. Mary's/College of the Canyons

The UC Santa Barbara commit stood out in every area at the showcase. He ran a 6.64 sixty to start things off, then threw 90 mph in outfield drills with low, on line throws, then crushed the ball in batting practice, showing bat speed and easy power.

Harrison Spohn  3B - 2017 - Upland, CA
California Baptist

Spohn has an impressive 6-1/185 athletic build and a nice combination of athleticism, defensive skills and offensive tools. It's hard to imagine the California Baptist commit not being a successful offensive player at the next level.

Kaiser Weiss  OF - 2017 - Oxnard, CA
University of Washington

Weiss is a Washington commit who has lots of wiry strength in his 6-0/170 swing and generates plenty of right handed bat speed and has the ability to back spin balls and create carry. He's also a 7.0 runner who showed his athleticism well in the outfield

Dylan Aronne  OF - 2017 - Dana Point, CA
Saddleback College

Aronne was the hottest hitter at the event in games, driving base hits almost every time up. He's a solid all around athlete who plays hard and was 83 mph off the mound as well.

Alec Flemetakis  SS - 2017 - Hurricane, UT
Utah Tech

Flemetakis is a two-way prospect who stood out in many areas. He had nice infield athleticism and actions on defense and has a front side line drive approach at the plate with good bat speed. He may have impressed us more on the mound, where his 86 mph fastball had huge bat breaking late life.

Jacob Baldauf  RHP - 2017 - Los Alamitos, CA
Long Beach State

Baldauf showed a nice collection of tools across the board, throwing 86 from the mound, demonstrating next level actions and arm strength in the outfield and standing out at the plate with good right handed bat speed and lots of hard line drive contact.

Holt Jones  RHP - 2017 - Santa Monica, CA
Clemson

Jones stands out with his long and slendery 6-7/180 build. He topped out at 86 mph on his fastball and mixed in a 73 mph slider and has plenty more velocity in there as he gets stronger.

Junior Coleman  OF - 2017 - San Diego, CA
Western Kentucky/Riverside CC

Coleman has very good run and throw tools, including 6.69 speed in the sixty. His big challenge is getting stronger, as he has a nice swing approach and squares the ball up consistently.

Kevin Wiseman  RHP - 2017 - Axtell, TX
Wagner

Wiseman has a big and strong athletic build that helps him generate a 87 mph fastball from a well balanced and repeatable delivery. His 74 mph curveball was a good second pitch as well. Wiseman also used his strength well at the plate and drives the ball with authority.

Desmond Gates  OF - 2017 - Los Angeles, CA
Uncommitted

The 5-10/160 pound Gates has an interesting combination of running speed at 6.71 in the sixty and power/bat speed at the plate. His swing approach is notably aggressive, he goes up to the plate looking to hit the ball has hard as he can.

Robbie Brue  C - 2017 - Hayward, CA
Contra Costa College

Brue stood out defensively in both the games and in the drills, showing big arm strength and also strong hands receiving and framing pitches. Some more strength and a few adjustments will advance him at the plate.

Bryan Pope  2B - 2017 - Ladera Ranch, CA
Uncommitted

Pope showed some interesting tools as a position player, including a loose line drive oriented right handed swing, but looked even better on the mound. He worked up to 86 mph with his fastball and threw a very nice curveball in the low 70's.

Korey Cirks  RHP - 2017 - Villa Park, CA
Colorado-Colorado Springs

Cirks will pitch at the next level. He's a true submariner with a polished delivery and commands a mid-70's sinker very well. The separator for him is a sharp breaking slider that there were some ugly and futile swings at. Expect to see him in a college bullpen in the near future.

Alex Blaszyk  RHP - 2017 - Poway, CA
Sacramento State

Blaszyk has a nice 6-5/190 build that projects well and showed his athleticism with a 6.95 sixty and a long home run in batting practice. He was up to 85 mph on the mound with more there as he matures.

Cameron Nixon  RHP - 2017 - Las Vegas, NV
Uncommitted

Nixon threw a lively fastball that topped out at 85 mph and worked down in the strike zone well. He also threw a low 70's curveball and mid-70's change up.

Chris Buting  RHP - 2017 - Irvine, CA
University of California, San Diego

Buting has a nice combination of athleticism, flexibility and arm strength behind the plate and popped a 1.92 in drills. He also threw 85 mph off the mound.

Kurt Pitha  RHP - 2017 - reno nv, NV
Uncommitted

Pitha has a nice 6-3/185 body that has loose actions and projects very well. He topped out at 86 mph on his fastball and showed big sweeping depth on his curveball.

Drew Sims  C - 2017 - Winchester, CA
Utah Valley University

Sims is an interesting projection at 6-4/190 with lots of athleticism and arm strength behind the plate. His present offensive skills are ahead of his defensive skills and he should could really develop with the bat as he gets stronger.

Free Agents Top Prospects

Takashi Umino  RHP - Free Agents - Naka, IB JPN

Umino was the most impressive of the large contingent of Japanese players at the event. He threw four easy innings on the mound, working 82-84 mph with outstanding command and life on his fastball. His slider and curveball also flashed quality at times.
