Perfect Game Junior College Top 25: April 19

The month of April is rapidly coming to a close and there hasn’t been much movement in the rankings with the exception of a few teams really heating up, or in Neosho County’s case, staying hot.

Neosho County (44-7) has made quick work of climbing up the rankings in the past few weeks. The Panthers cracked the top 10 last week and now find their way in our top 5 after going 9-1 in their last 10 games. With only five games left on their schedule, they won’t be able to crack the 50-win mark, but it’s still been a very impressive regular season season run.

San Jacinto (36-8) remains in the top spot with Santa Fe (38-7) right on their heels. Sitting third is LSU-Eunice (43-3). After dropping two out of three to Delgado last weekend, the Bengals righted the ship and are coming off a three-game sweep over UT Tyler. Neosho County sits in the four-spot and Grayson (39-10) makes their first appearance in our top 5.

There might not be a team playing better baseball right now than our eighth-ranked team in Iowa Western (37-10). The Reivers have put their slow start behind them and have now won 13 in a row and have a 16-2 record in the month of April. This team is hot at the right time and would make for a very scary opponent in the postseason for any team out there.

Our rankings here at Perfect Game are unique since we include California and the Golden State is producing some very strong teams. Santa Rosa (29-4), Saddleback (28-5), Fullerton (25-8) and Canyons (25-8) are all sitting in the top 20.

The lone newcomer to this week’s ranking is Harford (37-8). The fighting Owls are 22-1 in their conference and are proving that Maryland is more than just crab cakes and football. Harford replaces defending National Champions Northwest Florida State in the rankings.

Rankings are based on games through Sunday, April 24

Others considered: Yavapai, Wabash Valley, Chattanooga State, Northeastern Oklahoma A&M, Polk State.
