No. 1 Louisiana State emerged victorious in their much anticipated matchup against No. 2 Texas A&M in Baton Rouge that lived up to the hype. The series had everything a college baseball fan could ask for, with big hits, big pitching performances and numerous highlight reel defensive plays. Both teams remain at their respective rankings firmly believing the two are appropriately ranked as the top two teams in the nation, although recognizing that Texas A&M has now lost two consecutive SEC weekend series.

Illinois continues to surge toward the top riding a 17-game win streak and a 36-6-1 overall record. after sweeping Penn State. Now ranked sixth in the nation, they will face two more tough Big Ten opponents in the next three weeks to close out the regular season, traveling to now No. 24 Ohio State next weekend before hosting Nebraska May 14-16.

Speaking of Ohio State, they and the College of Charleston join the Top 25 after Missouri and Nebraska were swept by Vanderbilt and Iowa respective this weekend. Missouri also lost to No. 20 Missouri State midweek and went winless (0-4) since the last rankings update. Charleston and Ohio State are two of the hottest teams in the nation, and both went 5-0 this past week. The Cougars have won 18 of their last 20, while Ohio State was even more impressive a week ago after taking their series against Nebraska and a midweek contest over Louisville.

Arkansas, who claimed their fifth consecutive SEC series this past weekend, also received strong consideration.
