2017 Top Prospects

Christopher Wagner  OF - 2017 - Staten Island, NY
Uncommitted

Wagner clocked in with the event's best 60-yard time at 6.84 60-yard dash and uses that quick-twitch muscle well in the outfield where he threw 81 mph. The 5-foot-10, 190-pound Wagner was able to create interesting leverage in his righthanded swing and showed a full path to the ball showing nice jump off of the barrel.


2018 Top Prospects

Hunter McGarvey  C - 2018 - Lansdale, PA
Richmond

McGarvey is an interesting athlete who performed well in all aspects of the game and projects nicely given his 5-foot-10, 175-pound frame. A primary catcher, McGarvey popped a 1.94 with compact actions and threw 76 mph from behind the dish while also touching 84 mph on the mound. His righthanded bat is just as impressive with consistent hard line drive contact, showing comfort working to all fields with a nice feel for the barrel.

Connor Buggy  C - 2018 - Hummelstown, PA
Mount St. Mary`s

Currently uncommitted, Buggy, who's listed at 6-foot-1, 190-pounds, put together a nice performance and impressed behind the plate as he popped a 1.90 while gaining ground and showed solid arm strength at 77 mph with strong carry. He's a righthanded hitter who's on time with his leg lift trigger and generates an easy swing plane with a present feel for the barrel.

Max Dineen  OF - 2018 - Pennsville, NJ
State College of Florida

Dineen showed off a strong tool set this weekend and put interesting two-way potential on display. Strongly built at 5-foot-10, 170-pounds, Dineen delivered the top outfield velcoity at 88 mph and also impressed with big extension on the mound, up to 84 mph. He generates nice bat speed from the right side of the plate and uses his strength to create nice carry and jump to the pull side.

Derrick Newman Jr  3B - 2018 - Fort Washington, MD

Newman is strongly built at 5-foot-9, 175-pounds and he uses that physical strength very nicely in his righthanded swing. He creates very nice bat speed and whip through the zone with solid leverage at the point of contact, driving the ball hard to all fields while showing plenty of intent in the swing.

Travis Byrne  RHP - 2018 - Closter, NJ
SUNY-Maritime

Byrne came out hot on the mound and showed a fastball that topped out at 83 mph, amongst the leaders in the showcase, with some whip to his arm action and running life down in the zone. He also showed off sound actions defensively up the middle with quick footwork and hit with a short stroke from the right side, creating line drive contact.

Alex Diamantis  OF - 2018 - Staten Island, NY
Rider

Diamantis, who's listed at 6-foot, 165-pounds, showed impressive arm strength from the outfield with a top throw of 84 mph with a full and whippy arm action and athleticism to his actions. He also shows a simple approach in the righthanded batter's box with quickness to his hands to create line drive contact to the pull side of the field.

RJ Price  C - 2018 - Street, MD

Price is listed at 6-foot, 175-pounds and he shows solid strength in everything he does. A primary catcher, Price showed off the biggest arm strength from behind the dish with a top throw of 80 mph while showing whip to his arm action and stays short to the ball with loud contact and solid carry off the barrel.

Reese Varley  C - 2018 - Haymarket, VA
UMBC

Varley, a primary catcher, is strongly built at 6-foot, 190-pounds and he stays loose with his defensive actions and repeats them nicely, showing accuracy and carry on his throws. His righthanded swing his is loudest of tools however as he's able to create nice extension out front while creating backspin with hard jump off the barrel to the middle and pull side parts of the field.


2019 Top Prospects

Steven Loden  3B - 2019 - Lower Gwynedd, PA
Florida Atlantic

Loden is an impressive athlete and has the tools that will continue to project though he already shows solid physical strength. A lefthanded hitter, Loden shows standout bat speed and leverage at the point of contact, both in game and batting practice. He shows similar athleticism up the middle with balance and arm strength, showing the ability to throw from multiple slots.

Kieran Versaw-Barnes  RHP - 2019 - Elkins Park, PA
Uncommitted

Don't let Versaw Barnes' size fool you as he was one of the more impressive arms of the entire event, showing very balanced mechanics and rhythm on the mound, as well as a quick right arm. He pumped his fastball up to 84 mph with plane out of the hand and consistent running life to the arm side while working to either side of the plate.

Nick Breznak  LHP - 2019 - Lititz, PA
Radford

Like other prospects on this list, Breznak shows two-way potential at the next level as he threw well on the mound (his primary position) with a quick arm and sharp breaking ball and showed similar arm strength from first base. His righthanded swing however was just as impressive as he attacks the baseball with impressive bat speed and creates hard jump to the pull side.

Joey Davis  RHP - 2019 - Middletown, DE
Harford CC

Davis put his versatility on display throughout the weekend as he showed looseness and bounce to his actions in the infield to go along with a quick arm and nice arm strength (83 mph), which he also showed in the outfield (84 mph) with nice carry to the bag. He also has nice balance to his swing, showing a contact approach in the box with a feel for the barrel and a middle of the field approach.

Philip Bernstein  OF - 2019 - Brooklyn, NY
Hamilton

Bernstein is a very projectable rising junior at 5-foot-9, 150-pounds and he showed a nice handle for the bat throughout the weekend, both in game and during batting practice. A lefthanded bat, Bernstein picked up multiple hits in game showing the same line drive plane he did during BP with balance and sound bat speed while working the middle of the field with regularity.

Zachary Selinger  3B - 2019 - Cortlandt Manor, NY
Fordham

Selinger, who's listed at 5-foot-9, 170-pounds, is able to create interesting raw strength from the right side of the plate, something he showed in games and batting practice, as well as in Zepp testing, tied for top exit velocity of 90 mph. The ball jumps off his barrel and he shows solid bat speed through the zone, as well as range up the middle defensively with arm strength across.
