2017 Top Prospects

Alexander Almonte  OF - 2017 - Lawrence, MA
Northern Essex CC

Though he's uncommitted, Almonte has all the tools and looks like a high level prospect on several fronts. Physically built at 6-foot-1, 190-pounds, Almonte retains plenty of looseness as he posted a 6.65 60-yard dash and threw 85 from the outfield. His biggest tool however is his righthanded bat and in particular the easy strength and carry he's able to generate off the barrel.

Joseph Vail  LHP - 2017 - Cromwell, CT
Le Moyne

Vail, a strongly built lefthanded pitcher at 6-foot-2, 190-pounds, turned in the best fastball velocity of the event as he ran his fastball up to 85 mph throughout his outing. His arm action is short and quick and the delivery is a simple one that's easy to repeat, allowing for Vail to consistently show four distinct pitches for strikes.

Isaiah Mirabal  C - 2017 - Bayside, NY
Connors State College

Mirabal excelled defensively behind the plate both in drills and live action as he popped an event best 1.86 and showed big arm strength with a top throw of 79 mph. He transfers the ball both smoothly and quickly with solid catch-and-throw skills. He also uses his physical strength well in his righthanded swing and connected for a loud and long home run in game to dead center field.

Luis DeLeon  SS - 2017 - Providence, RI
Uncommitted

DeLeon started off his showcase by running a 6.77 60-yard dash and he was just warming up as he continued to make noise with his righthanded swing. Listed at a projectable 5-foot-10, 170-pound frame DeLeon was able to drive the ball as hard as any player in attendance and he did so both in BP and live action with sound bat speed and solid jump off the barrel.

Jared Vega  RHP - 2017 - Stratford, NJ
Rutgers, State University(NJ), Camden

Vega first showed off his big arm strength from the outfield where his 87 mph served as the top velocity, but he was equally as impressive on the mound, his primary position. He topped out at 84 mph with his fastball and showed easy arm speed, regularly getting on top of the ball with steady running life and short tilt to his 11-5 shaped curveball.

Justin Files  OF - 2017 - Braintree, MA
Uncommitted

Files put on a full display of his tools throughout the showcase as the 5-foot-11, 175-pound outfield showed some of the better defensive mechanics as well as one of the loose arm action which helped produce a top throw of 85 mph with very good accuracy to the plate. He also swung it well from the right side and did a nice job of getting his arm extended while generating bat speed through the zone.

Andres Gonzalez  SS - 2017 - Toronto, ON CAN
Uncommitted

Gonzalez began his showcase but running a 6.99 60-yard dash and showed well defensively up the middle with balanced actions just as he did in game charging in with nice athleticism. He shows a line drive swing plane from the right side and was able to produce line drive contact to all parts of the field.

Shanif Hirani  OF - 2017 - Petersburg, ON CAN
Uncommitted

Hirani showed well in all facets of his game as he turned in one of the top 60-yard dash times at 6.62, speed he used well to get down the line. He also threw 84 mph from the outfield with nice carry out of the hand and showed a short swing path to the ball with line drive contact to all parts of the field.

Michael Pedota  SS - 2017 - Belle Mead, NJ
Uncommitted

Pedota showed nice tools throughout the weekend and that played in live action. A primary middle infielder, Pedota performed well defensively with soft hands and balanced footwork, as well as showing a strong arm which he brought to the mound and topped 83 mph. He also showed a line drive stroke from the right side with quick hands and a middle of the field approach.

Joe Prisco  RHP - 2017 - Pound Ridge, NY
NYU

Prisco showed off one of the better fastballs of the event, regularly hitting 84 mph, but almost as impressive was the heavy and late life he was able to generate down in the zone. His arm is quick and he does a nice job of repeating his mechanics while showing short tumbling life to his changeup at 74 mph.

Patrick Rauseo  2B - 2017 - Hudson, NH
Saint Joseph’s College (Maine)

Rauseo is full of quick-twitch muscle, something he showed off by turning in the event's best 60-yard time with plus speed. Listed at 5-foot-7, 145-pounds the uncommitted Rauseo shows quick hands and a direct swing path as well as a quick transfer and carry across the diamond defensively.

Brendan Rose  1B - 2017 - Brooklyn, NY
SUNY-Purchase

Rose is listed at 6-foot-4, 225-pounds and he uses that length well in the righthanded batter's box to create extension and drive the ball. He was able to drive the ball while showing quickness to the barrel and also showed the ability to make an adjustment and stay back on a breaking ball in live action.

Joe Routhier  SS - 2017 - Nashua, NH
Plymouth State University

After showing a quick transfer and sound arm strength across the infield with athletic athletic actions, Routhier continued to put together a solid showcase performance with his righthanded swing. He showed a handle for the barrel of the bat both live and during BP with quick hands and a line drive swing plane, covering the plate well and working all fields.

Nikolas San Antonio  2B - 2017 - Cranston, RI
Suffolk University

San Antonio impressed with his righthanded swing as he stayed both short and quick to the ball with quick hands, all assets that helped produce consistent line drive contact while showing a consistent feel for the barrel. He ran a 6.92 60-yard dash and showed quick feet with light and balanced actions up the middle.

2018 Top Prospects

Zach Stevens  1B - 2018 - Lexington, MA
Navy

After showing off the biggest raw power during the batting practice session, Stevens continued to impact the baseball against live pitching in virtually every at-bat. Listed at a strong 6-foot-2, 220-pounds the uncommitted Stevens showed big bat speed through the zone with solid separation and the ability to drive the ball to all parts of the field on a regular basis.

Connor Wironen  OF - 2018 - Leominster, MA
Assumption

Wironen, who's listed as uncommitted per his Perfect Game profile, showed off a bevy of tools throughout the showcases and possesses plenty of skill for the next level. He ran a 6.83 60-yard and tied for an event best 79 mph throw from behind the plate, though his lefthanded bat may be his loudest tool as he shows plenty of balance and quickness with steady line drive contact to the pull side.

Ryan Plentzas  3B - 2018 - Manchester, NH
Uncommitted

Plentzas is a strongly built 6-foot-1, 195-pound third baseman who showed sound defensive actions with a quick transfer and balance in the infield. His righthanded swing however is the loudest of his tools as he displayed a consistent feel for the barrel with solid bat speed and hard jump off the barrel as he uncoiled well at the point of contact.
