2017 Top Prospects

Jack Schneider  OF - 2017 - Owensboro, KY
Murray State

Schneider has some of the louder tools we've seen all month on the showcase circuit, with double plus speed (he ran a 6.16 60 yard dash), a double plus arm (he threw 98 MPH from the outfield), and above-average bat speed at the plate that can result in serious pop and strength at contact when he's timed up properly.

Bayler Hinz  RHP - 2017 - Overland Park, KS
Uncommitted

Hinz, a physical and strong right-hander, showed well during his time on the mound in this event. From a smooth, repeatable delivery, Hinz worked 83-86 MPH with his fastball, and the pitch featured heavy running life at the bottom of the zone. The curveball was a weapon pitch with tight spin and sharp break; and the changeup has good fading action down in the zone with deceptive arm speed.

Steven Bender  OF - 2017 - Lexington, KY
Uncommitted

From a physically projectable frame, Bender showed good arm speed with a clean arm action that produced fastballs up to 85 MPH with good sinking life and command to the bottom of the zone. He also showed good feel to spin his 12/6 curveball and replicated his arm speed well while turning over his changeup, producing fading action.

Jackson Campbell  C - 2017 - Russellville, KY
Southeastern Louisiana

The Belmont commit ran one of the faster 60 yard dashes we've ever seen from a catcher at 6.58 seconds, and backed it up defensively by showing clean receiving skills with quality footwork and blocking skills as well. He popped as low as 1.95 seconds and threw 79 MPH from behind the plate.

Jacob Nelson  OF - 2017 - Artemus, KY
Uncommitted

Nelson showed off seriously impressive arm strength, both from the mound and in the outfield. He threw 94 MPH from the outfield, showing off a true plus arm, to go along with solid actions and an excellent right field profile at the next level. On the mound, he worked 82-86 MPH and topped at 88, with heavy life and excellent lower half usage through his delivery.

Bryson Bloomer  3B - 2017 - Lexington, KY
Uncommitted

Bloomer showed well both offensively and defensively in this event. He creates very good bat speed when hitting with the barrel feel and control to go to all fields with authority, and projects for some serious power as he continues to fill out. He also defended well, getting around the ball well with good footwork and showing quality arm strength across the diamond, topping at 84 MPH.

Kevin Flood  SS - 2017 - Indianapolis, IN
Uncommitted

Flood's tools were on display throughout the entire event. He ran a 6.93 60 yard dash, threw 85 MPH across the infield, and showed some serious juice in batting practice, launching one of the few home runs seen in the whole event to deep left field. The swing is geared for power with a lofted plane and plenty of bat speed, and he'll continue to unlock more power moving forward.

Drew Hefner  C - 2017 - Bridgeport, WV
Uncommitted

Hefner impressed both with the bat and glove during the Ohio Valley Showcase. At the plate, he shows quick, clean hands with a powerful shift in his lower half, producing quality bat speed that resulted in well-barreled contact on a line with power to pull field. Behind the plate, he's a quality receiver with explosive lower half mechanics, producing pop times as low as 1.93 seconds with uncanny accuracy to 2nd base.

Landon Moberly  C - 2017 - Lexington, KY
Kentucky Wesleyan

Moberly showed well across every facet of the game throughout this event. With quick, violent hands he's able to create excellent bat speed and strength off the barrel when hitting; and also showed well defensively behind the plate, with clean footwork and and explosion out of his crouch, popping 2.00 seconds with accuracy and arm strength.

Noah Thompson  LHP - 2017 - Louisville, KY
Lipscomb

The physical left-hander showed a variety of pitches with solid command, including a fastball that he ran up to 83 MPH with steep plane from a high three quarters arm slot. He also mixed in a good curveball with big depth and two variations of a changeup--one with straighter, firmer action and one with screwball-like movement.

2018 Top Prospects

Hunter Dreves  RHP - 2018 - Fort Thomas, KY
Tennessee

Dreve's combination of projectability and arm speed make him a high end pitching prospect, as the rising junior topped at 88 MPH with his fastball and definitely projects for more as he continues to physically mature. The pitch featured good riding life, and he showed good feel for his curveball and changeup, both with swing-and-miss potential.

Nick Carroll  RHP - 2018 - Louisville, KY
Uncommitted

Carroll was extremely impressive on the mound, working 81-84 MPH with command and good heavy life, projecting for more velocity into the future. He showed a simple, repeatable delivery with athleticism, and worked in a good curveball with spin and depth, in addition to a fading changeup.

Carlos Tumpkin  RHP - 2018 - Grosse Pointe Park, MI
Jackson CC

Tumpkin is a physically impressive right-hander with both present stuff and projection. His arm works well and his delivery is repeatable, and he gets up to 84 MPH on his fastball with heavy, riding life and good projection for more velocity moving forward. He showed good feel to spin the ball as well, flashing tight spin and good depth on the pitch.

Tyler Bosma  LHP - 2018 - Holland, MI
Uncommitted

Bosma's highly projectable frame serves him well both on the mound and as a positional prospect. On the mound, he clocked up to 81 MPH on his fastball with highly advanced feel for his changeup. He showed a quick stroke hitting as well, with big power projection once he fills out and a good idea of the zone.

Andrew Stanley  C - 2018 - Searcy, AR
Arkansas

Stanley stood out behind the plate for his quick-twitch, controlled actions when catching. He receives well and explodes out with efficient footwork and quality arm strength, throwing 75 MPH and popping as low as 1.94 seconds. He also showed well when hitting, with a repeatable swing that gets on plane well and creates leverage with developing jump off the barrel.

Ryan McCurry  OF - 2018 - Solon, OH
Indiana

McCurry took a pretty loud round of batting practice, showing fluidity and bat speed throughout with a good shift into contact, resulting in hard contact to all fields with legitimate power potential. He also showed well in the outfield with efficient, easy footwork to the ball, fielding cleanly and showing advanced arm strength on throws up to 84 MPH.

Garron Moffett  OF - 2018 - Newburgh, IN
Lipscomb

Moffett showed some serious speed, running a 6.60 60 yard dash during workouts and then using that speed and athleticism defensively, moving to the ball and taking good routes in the outfield before fielding cleanly and throwing up to 81 MPH. He also showed a smooth, quick stroke when hitting with the ability to spray the ball on a line to all fields.

Chase Patton  C - 2018 - Prospect, KY
Sacramento City College

Patton showed quality athleticism by running a 6.96 seconds 60 yard dash, and then used that athleticism well in his defensive actions behind the plate. He has good, quick feet with direct footwork into his throw down mechanics, popping as low as 1.95 seconds and projecting well overall defensively.

Reece Puckett  OF - 2018 - Bardstown, KY
Kentucky Wesleyan

Puckett ran extremely well with a 6.63 second 60 yard dash time, and used that speed well in the outfield, where he projects well thanks to high quality footwork and a quick release with arm strength clocked up to 84 MPH. He also shows a compact, line drive stroke when hitting with good feel to use all fields.

Braydon Runion  3B - 2018 - Florence, KY
Texas Tech/Walters State CC

Runion showed well both defensively and with the bat in this event, with quality infield actions and very soft hands at the ball, in addition to showcasing a quick release with advanced arm strength, clocked up to 85 MPH across the diamond. He also showed a quick, repeatable swing when hitting, with good jump off the barrel and projectable power.

2019 Top Prospects

Nick Hoffmann  RHP - 2019 - Centerville, OH
Clemson

Hoffmann showed well in every facet but especially shined on the mound, where the highly projectable right-hander looks the part of a future big time prospect. He worked 80-84 MPH with his fastball and projects for more, and also showed a swing-and-miss slider that he did an excellent job of commanding.

Kyle Harbison  C - 2019 - Georgetown, KY
Indiana State

Harbison showed very quick actions and efficient footwork behind the plate, gaining ground forward well and showing an extremely quick transfer, popping as low as 1.82 seconds, mostly due to the quickness and explosiveness of his actions. He showed a compact, direct swing when hitting with quick hands and good weight shift.

Noah Blythe  2B - 2019 - Lexington, KY
Mississippi Gulf Coast CC

Blythe showed pretty good bat speed when hitting, with an overall quick and direct stroke that results in consistent hard contact to all fields. He also showed well defensively in two spots, moving cleanly to the ball in the outfield and showing off a very strong arm up to 87 MPH; and showing quick twitch actions in the infield with plenty of arm strength up to 82 MPH.

Dillon Bland  3B - 2019 - Glendale, KY
Uncommitted

Bland is one of the more physically projectable in attendance at this event, and that projectability combined with his feel to hit and arm speed give him legitimate upside. He threw 84 MPH across the infield, worked up to 80 MPH on the mound with much more in the tank, and showed a lofted swing geared for power, which he will have plenty of at physical maturity.

Grant McQueary  OF - 2019 - Campbellsville, KY
Campbellsville University

McQueary showed one of the best outfield arms of the event, throwing 88 MPH from the outfield and earning good defensive reviews overall thanks to his combination of footwork, actions, and arm strength. He also showed quality bat speed at the plate with a line drive swing plane.

AJ Hacker  RHP - 2019 - Morehead, KY
Indiana

Hacker was especially good on the mound during this event, striking out 6 over his 3 innings of work, using a quality combination of stuff and deception to get the job done. He pounded the strike zone with a 75-80 MPH fastball to both sides of the plate, and worked in a tight, sharp, swing-and-miss curveball as well.

2020 Top Prospects

Micah Duncan  RHP - 2020 - Lexington, KY
Uncommitted

The young, athletic Duncan showed well on the mound, sitting consistently in the low 80's and running his fastball up to 83 MPH from an easy, extended three quarters arm slot. His arm speed and body both project very well moving forward, and he shows a good horizontal slider with late break and some sharpness.

Seth Williams  SS - 2020 - Paintsville, KY
Louisville

Williams showed extremely well defensively in game, making plays that prospects of his age don't make with regularity, with consistently quality footwork and advanced arm strength. He also shows a compact, high-contact stroke at the plate with loft and bat speed; and worked up to 84 MPH when he was on the mound, with a very quick arm that projects.
