Congratulations to the Miami Hurricanes who become the first team during the 2016 college baseball season to wrangle the top spot from the previously top-ranked Florida Gators. The Hurricanes have the upstart Mississippi State Bulldogs to thank for that, who took their SEC series over Florida on the road in Gainesville.

The move is somewhat unorthodox since Miami only played two games this past week, and only one of those was part of their weekend series on the road against Notre Dame as poor winter-like weather washed out the first two games. Although Miami did lose their series earlier in the year to the Gators, they get the nod given their dominance since conference play opened.

And while Mississippi State has also been dominant since league play began in the SEC, we still have Florida ranked ahead of them given the overall dominance (29-5) they have displayed this season.

Oklahoma State, Michigan and Virginia all endured tough weeks and as a result were removed from the rankings. Taking their places are Kentucky (21), Southern Miss (22) and Missouri State (24). Kentucky in particular has been playing extremely well since SEC play began, taking series against Florida, Georgia, Tennessee and now Alabama.

Don't forget to tune in to Perfect Game College Baseball this evening on SiriusXM College Sports Nation, channel 84, with hosts Daron Sutton and Mike Rooney, as they recap an exciting weekend of baseball while looking ahead to what's next.
